Track Biography:
Aghabullogue has been in operation since 1988. The course is situated just outside Aghabullogue village. Many people park in the village and walk down to the course.
The point-to-point is run over John Murphy’s land who is also our chairman and has been from day one. The course itself is a real test of stamina and it is a great viewing track for spectators.
Over the years many top racehorses have won at Aghabullogue including Cheltenham Foxhunters winner Whyso Mayo who has won three times here at Aghabullogue, Lovely Citizen who also won the Cheltenham Foxhunters and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Call who was also trained on the land.

By Road
From N22 between Cork & Macroom-Approx 24km Take R619 towards Mallow.
From N20 at Mallow take R619 towards Farnanes for approx 25km.
Aghabullogue will then be signposted.
By Air
Our point-to-point is located thirty five minutes from Cork airport.

At this time of year strong preference is given to six year olds here who are meeting the new bunch of five year olds who carried 11-7 against their own up to last week and are now in off the top weight of 12st against older mares. With that in mind Oonagh K who was second at Ballindenisk last time is the selection. That winner Mollydod was only just touched off at Tramore on Monday so Oonagh K has reliable form. Our Katie is consistent and looks the biggest danger.

As is the case in the opener this is a big test for any five year old to meet a six year old off level weights so early in the season. With that in mind the seleciotn goes to THE SHAUGHRAN who has bumper form and can improve from his placed effort at Lisronagh last time. Timjoe is another who has track experience and therefore can play a part as he was unlucky in running last time at Avaune. The five year olds have form but trends would angle punters away from them.

SOME PRESENT has two entries but stands out at both venues as he could well have won last time but for falling at the last. Pocket Reader ran well earlier in the week at Dromahane to finish second but can be best fresh while he has the measure of Rudi Trucker on that form. The biggest dangers here to the selection could be Castleview Mills who was in front at Limerick when falling two out in a Hunters Chase or Theresathingwrong who was a fair fifth to Tammys Hill at Glenbane and both have course form.

A decent older mares race with plenty having recent form. Vicalus lead to the dying strides at Dromahane last Sunday but could have had a hard race in doing so. Twin Plan also ran last Sunday and was placed while Suzie Lightning was well behind at Lisronagh although placed but this was against geldings so could be excused. Hey June, Glenwood Girl, Forever Eva and Days Of Glory all have form but the very narrow verdict goes to BALLYHASS who has been placed on all four completed starts and deserves her chance.
