Track Biography:
The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.
The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.
Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.
Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

By Road:
From Belfast, take the M2 towards Antrim. Toomebridge is 45 minutes from Belfast city.
From Dublin, take the M1 towards Belfast. From Belfast take the M2.
By Air
Toomebridge is located two hours and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 30 minutes from Belfast airport.

OLD CASTLETOWN fits the profile of a likely early season maiden winner having been active under rules a little over a month ago in a Downpatrick bumper. His fitness and track experience could well give him the edge here. His main danger may come in the form of Royalraise who had two promising runs on good-firm ground towards the end of last seaon. Fight Commander showed promise at the early part of last season and coming here fresh could well see him play a part. Stable companions Kinley and Nine Altars both showed promise on debuts and could step up.

The talented SLIPPERS PERCY should have the class to win this on his course form from May where he beat Nedzers Return. His final run of last season on heavy ground can be discounted. Norther Bay has run over the summer and comes here in good form being beaten 12l by Pires at Ballinrobe only a month ago. Russian War should be suited by this course also while Highly Unlikely is a real improver and makes his Open debut which could be worth noting.
