Track Biography:
The Galway Blazers have a long history of holding a point-to-point dating back over a hundred years. The hunt dates from the beginning of the 19th century and has established itself as one of the famous Irish Hunts due to the goodwill and generosity of farmers and landowners throughout the county.
We run two meetings a year at Dartfield just outside Loughrea with the first one taking place in October and the second fixture being held in April. The course is situated at Dartfield Horse Museum and heritage centre which is set on 350 acres of parkland just forty minutes from Galway city.
Over the years, Loughrea point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as Bewleys Berry, Boys Hurrah, Brindisi Breeze, Never Compromise and King Johns Castle.
How To Get There
By Road
From the Dublin take the M6 as far as the Ballinasloe West exit 15, and continue on the N6 towards Loughrea/Galway as far as Kilreekil village. Dartfield is half a mile beyond the village on the right hand side of the N6.
From Galway take the M6 and exit at Junction 16 for Loughrea. After approx. three miles on the access road you arrive at a roundabout, take the first exit. Continue past the Portumna Junction for less than a mile, and the entrance to Dartfield will be on your left.

Loughrea is situated 30 minutes from Galway airport and an hour and 50 minutes from Dublin airport.

NOT NOW SYLVIO looked a very promising sort last Autumn when very unlucky at Lemonfield. He didnt quite follow up that form afterwards but perhaps returning here fresh could see him the one to side with here. Bold Bacherlor has acquired plenty of track form since running well in a Dromahane maiden so must be rated a real danger while Kerisper ran well on debut at Necarne late last season. Sparkalark, Sea Buckthorn and Wind Of Hope will ensure this is a competitive contest.

She could be considered banker material here having been second to the useful Duckweed last time at Athlacca. KLASSY won this race last year and finished last season in top form. He is a solid performer at this level and will take the beating. Need To Know looks a danger as on his best he is a very useful performer at this level. Valentinos Choice could be best of the rest having finished third on the track since winning late last season. Grand Art ran well last time at Fairyhouse while The Last Derby and Tullintain must be taken seriously on best form.

KNOWHENTOFOLDEM ran well last Sunday at Castletown and is sure to be fit and ready for this assignment which could ensure he comes out on top. Many of the others have strong claims of winning however. Red Sunset was impressive at Fairyhouse and is on the upgrade, Mattara is consistent at this level and Tick Tock Tim was second in his winners race debut. Glenwood Forever was third in a chase last time bringing each of these five into the equation.

NELLS APACHE has been second on four of his last five runs including last Sunday at Castletown so may well have found his opportunity here. Fade Away is unexposed and on Curaheen form when second would be the main danger. Of the others Froggy looked towards the end of last season as though a race such as this could be within reach and Illusion Of Time was fourth last week and deserves a look. May Harmony has to overcome a notable absence but has a chance on best form.
