Track Biography:
The County Down hunt have been in existence since the early 1900’s. We have held our point-to-point meeting at Loughbrickland for over 70 years by kind permission of the Kidd family. Our autumn meeting is run in November each year with our spring fixture taking place in April.
Over the years, Loughbrickland point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2003 Aintree Grand national winner Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.
One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.
Our point-to-point is located 15 minutes away from the picturesque Slieve Gullion Forest Park which has something for all of the family including woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins as well as a play park and tour guides of the park.
How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin – Take the M1 and then exit onto the A1. Loughbrickland is approx. 15 minutes north of Newry. The village is on the left hand side and from there turn right following the signs to get to the track.
By Air
Our point-to-point is located one hour and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 50 minutes from Belfast International airport.

INFANTRY SOLDIER is a nicely bred sort who showed likeable improvement when finishing third on his second start at Necarne last season. He could be the one to step up and score here. Ballyrath has experience and on his best form wont be far away while Sweetoothtommy has a chance given he was third in a top notch Dromahane maiden last term.

LEAGUE OF HIS OWN ran very well only last Sunday to finish a close up third behind stable companion Black Jack Rover at Tinahely. He is sure to come on for that run and fitness is guaranteed so he gets the vote over Kerisper who ran very well on his only outing last season when only beaten ten lengths at Necarne. Of the others Shanroe Santos is of most interest as he was fourth in a seventeen runner bumper last time back in May at Roscommon. Not Now Sylvio comes here fit having been second last Sunday also.

CHOSEN DREAM is a very solid sort at this level and was only just touched off by the useful Ground Invasion at Loughanmore last time. He should be able to get back to winning ways here. Maple Mons has the measure of Blackstone Edge on their Castletown form but Paddy The Deejay may be best of the rest as he won his latest point at Punchestown and was beaten less than twenty lengths in a Fairyhouse festival bumper. Tick Tock Tom is another with recent form to call on.

VITAL PLOT was one of the better Hunter Chasers last season and very effective in points so if he strips fit the rest will face a tough test. Stable companions Ross Na Righ and Klassy have both been second already this season so come here fit while Sebadee should improve from his first outing at Castletown.
