Track Biography:
The records show The Fermanagh Harriers Point to Point Steeplechases began an annual fixture as far back as 1905, when the races were held at Dunbar outside Enniskillen. This is the location of our annual Boxing Day Hunt today!
Over the years the venue has changed once or twice but it has been held at the current location, Necarne Castle, since 1999.
Necarne Castle is located adjacent to the town of Irvinestown and it is with the kind permission of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council thet we have been able to avail of this excellent venue.
Traditionally our Two-day meeting takes place Early-Mid May, which normally leads to some added excitement as various riders are usually vieing for the jockeys championship at this closing stage of the season.
Course preparation and the running of the point to point is all done on a voluntary basis by the members of the Hunt
How To Get There
By Car
From Belfast -Take the M1 out of Belfast City and continue to join the A4. At the roundabout take the Tullyvar Rd/A5. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the B46. Follow B46 to Tummery Rd/A32 in Dromore. Continue to Irvinestown, continue to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.
From Dublin - From the M50 take exit 6 onto the Navan Rd towards the N3. Continue on the N3 to join the M3, N3, A509 and A32 to Fermanagh. Continue on the A32 to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.

Our point-to-point is situated just under 2 and a half hours from Dublin Airport and one hour and three quarters from Belfast International Airport.

ROBYNS APPROACH was sent off favourite on her debut at Loughanmore over Easter and she ran with real credit to finish a close third and improvement is expected which should see her as the one to beat. Willie Codd is well-represented in the entries and whichever he chooses to run has to be respected with his Pursecco and Brooklyn Babe both showing promise on debut. The market will give the best indication as to what is expected from the debutantes.

Letskeepit Simple has been running well in deep Winter ground and comes here following a break and is sure to be a fresh horse to consider if coping with Spring ground, whilst Loch Garman Aris, Wither Or Not and Fire And Smoke have all filled the runners-up position and ensure this is a decent contest.

KLASSY comes here in top form having won his last four on the bounce and he may just have too much pace for Carsonstown Boy in an intriguing contest. The latter ran well to finish fourth at Cheltenham in March; however he was a shade disappointing in the Joseph OReilly at Fairyhouse last month and will need to be on top-form to defeat the selection. 2015 Barbour Cup winner The Hard Hat looks best of the rest.

Despite failing to finish both starts to date, RUBYS STAR looks the one to side with here as she is the most unexposed in the line-up having also been on terms when coming down at the last at Largy last month. Thistle Lane has finished placed on her last three starts including when chasing home last Saturdays Athlacca Open winner Oscar Day at Tyrella in January, and that form would see go very close here.
