Track Biography:

The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.

The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.
 
Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.

Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

How To Get There

By Road:

From Belfast, take the M2 towards Antrim. Toomebridge is 45 minutes from Belfast city.

From Dublin, take the M1 towards Belfast. From Belfast take the M2.

By Air

Toomebridge is located two hours and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 30 minutes from Belfast airport.

Ballycrystal would look the principal danger having stepped-up notably to finish a fine second to Product Of Love at Rathcannon last month. Whipcord has to overcome a disappointing effort at Necarne on his latest start, but his fine third at Largy in April would bring him into contention alongside Minmore Present.

MINELLA STYLE was sent off a short-priced favourite for his debut at Dromahane back in April 2014 before falling, and if he could return to that promise following an absence, he could be the one to side with here. Ballymalin stepped-up on all previous form to finish third around here last month and if he can take a further step forward from that first completed start, that fitness edge could give him the advantage over Relkwood who returns from a season off. Ticinese joins Graham McKeever having run on the track for Heather Main and he could be worth a market check.

YEWTREE GIRL is another placed horse from last months Toomebridge fixture that looks set to re-appear here once again. Showing signs of progression, she can continue the good start to the season for her handler David Christie by taking this. The consistent JJ Milan has finished third four-times, and if bouncing back to her best, she is sure to give the selection a strong challenge. Lucky Buttons has to reverse form with the selection, however she has strong track form and can be expected to have improved.

Mr Bolt was the joint-Champion Point-to-Pointer last season, recording seven victories. If the selection disappoints, he is sure to take advantage. One Cool Clarkson is back between the flags following a spell under rules where he finished placed at Down Royal last Christmas and he looks next best.

MASTER RUFFIT was placed in a maiden hurdle at Navan back in February and that looks the pick of the form here which should see him make a successful return between the flags, having been last seen in Pointing action as a four-year-old back in 2012. American Image appears to be a course specialist around here having twice finished placed at the track including a fortnight ago. Clondaw Frisby would also have placed claims if re-capturing his best.
