Track Biography:

Established in 1942 the Dungarvan Farmers point-to-point still operates on its original site at Kilossera, just two kilometres outside of Dungarvan town centre.

The prime agricultural land beneath “the hill” creates a wonderful natural amphitheatre for one of the South East’s oldest and most famous point-to-points.

Run across the Curran, Sheehan and Kiely lands for generations, the Kilossera point-to-point has a strong tradition of future stars coming to the fore. Previous luminaries include Grand National winner Monty’s Pass, Lexus Chase winner Pandorama, and RSA Chase winner Jessies Dream.

Kilossera has also been a happy hunting ground for young jockeys such as Ted Walsh, Adrian Maguire and Davy Russell having ridden winners here during their careers.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dungarvan take the N25 Waterford-Cork road in the direction of Cork. The point-to-point will be located at Kilossera, the second right turn after Déise Vets. The point-to-point will be well signposted on the route.

Dungarvan is well serviced by regular buses from Waterford, Cork and Dublin. Taxis are available outside the Lady Belle pub in Dungarvan town centre and a trip to the point-to-point will cost around €7.

By Air

Our point-to-point is located 50 minutes from Cork airport and 2 hours from Dublin airport.

BARACALU may have failed to finish all three of his previous starts to date, however this looks an ideal opportunity for him to get off the mark having been in front when falling at Corbeagh House in November. Global Stage only got as far as the first at Templencarriga last Saturday, and like the selection, he too has had trouble completing in recent outings, however his Tralee effort was full of promise and he is capable of mounting a serious challenge. The newcomers could well play a part in the outcome of this and the market will give an indication of what is expected from them.

LASTPOP is the standout horse in this contest having finished second in her last two starts including a cruel defeat by the narrowest of margins at Lisronagh last time out. She is most deserving of a maiden success, with a repeat of that latest performance likely to see her good enough to come out on top in this. Lauras Lark was well held in a Confined contest last Saturday, however she is back against her own sex here which could help her. Meanwhile Born In Killeen and Carmajo could hold place claims at their best.

Whilst lightly raced to date, HAVE A GO HERO could well be the one to side with here as this Flemensfirth gelding was returning from a 12 month absence when finishing a creditable fourth at Templencarriga last Saturday. The Nenagh maiden which he picked-up has already produced three subsequent winners, whilst he was far from disgraced in a Bumper and is therefore a worthy selection. Duncloyne Lady has been running well of late, whilst Knocksquire returns from an absence.

The mare HILLY LADY is a half-sister to the 150-rated chaser Dee Ee Williams and in what looks a tricky contest to pick the winner from, she may be worth taking a chance on with the stable in good form following a winner last weekend. Castlequarter Star heads those with previous form, however she is returning from a long absence.

SYDNEY PAGET was an impressive winner at Rockfield back in November, and whilst he has had his colours lowered by Two Rockers at Boulta, that horse has franked the form by taking a Hunter Chase at Thurles recently. With that form line to his name, he is certainly the pick of these. On The Way Out was a Listed Hurdle winner at his peak and is still rated 126 over fences so appears to retain a level of ability. He could prove to be the main danger on his return from an absence.

DECLAN THE BRICKIE produced a very decent effort to finish a close second at Lingstown back in November on his first start over obstacles. As he is less exposed than a number of his rivals here, it could pay to side with him on this occasion. Royals And Rebels has yet to repeat the performance of his Dromahane second from last April, but is a danger when at his best, whilst Agent For Chaos and Just Wait And See are both consistent types who are entitled to make the frame.
