Track Biography:
Most commonly know now as the home of Irish Jump Racing Punchestowns history begins with Kildare Hunt Club.
One of the oldest in the country, the history of the Kildare Hunt Club goes back as far as the 18th century with the first Master being Squire Connolly of Castletown.
The Hunt Club would host races in various locations around the county but in the 1840’s during the master ship of John La Touche the members of Kildare Hunt Club decided to buy the lands at Punchestown.
Those lands are still held by the trustees of Kildare Hunt Club and continue to be used as the location for the point-to-point.

By Road
Take the N7 out of Dublin for Approx 20 miles and take the Naas exit. Go into Naas and turn left towards Punchestown on the R410 and then at a cross roads motorists take a right turn.
By Air
Our point-to-point is located fifty minutes from Dublin airport.

HASTY TIMES has a strong record in this race, having finished second in the 2014 renewal before going one better last year. He therefore has to be fancied to repeat that feat 12 months on having beaten a subsequent track winner in Jonniesofa at Monksgrange in March. Enniskillen was a winner on this card in 2014 and has been running well in Open company of late, so he will be suited by the drop in grade, whilst Grangeclare Rosa battled well to prevail at Tinahely last month and takes her first step into winners company here.

MARASONNIEN was a Grade 1 winner around here in 2012, and therefore he is the class horse in the race. Having struggled to make much of an impact on his pointing debut at Killeagh last month, he does need to step-up, however he is worth a second chance. Dantes King has been off the track for over a year however he recorded back-to-back successes at Affane and Borris when last seeing competitive action and if he was to return close to that level, he would be a big danger to the selection. Luska Lad has been unlucky of late, but he is capable of going close, as is Not Before Eight.

MIRACLE AT MEDINAH was taken out of the Hunter Chase at Clonmel last week, so he will likely not face as stiff a test in this on what is his return from a long absence. The seven-year-old was last seen finishing a promising second at Oldtown just shy of two years ago. Sycamore Boy and Insufficient Funds both finished placed on their debuts and can step-up, whilst Aqua Traverse and Baily Way represent leading connections as they switch back from the track.
