Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

FORTH CAVE would look the pick of the horses in here with previous experience having finished an encouraging third on his debut at Inchydoney last Sunday. The mare Lakemilan had finished placed against geldings on her debut at Dromahane in April, and she was in the process of running a strong race back against her own sex at that same venue when coming down three fences from home which would entitle her to claims here.

CARRY ON ASIAN has been very unlucky not to complete on his latest two starts as he was running smart races on each occasion and he looks the obvious choice for this race. Bobby Cullen enters the race in good form having won two of his three starts last month including at Inchydoney last Sunday and he looks best of the potential challengers, whilst Fortune Bound is a capable type at this level and he should have strong place claims.

HEEZ ALL TALK posted a career best last time out on his thirteenth start at Dromahane when finishing second recently, and if he was able to re-produce that effort, he may be the one to side with here. Medal Of Freedom has finished placed twice this season including at Lisronagh on his latest outing and is sure to be a leading contender, alongside Mushera Mor and Readem And Weep.

MOUNTAIN LOUGH has been a consistent sort all season long winning at both Curraheen and Dromahane where he also had the potentially re-opposing Forjoetheplumber behind him. Just a neck separated them on that occasion, whilst the placings were reversed in this race 12 months ago, so little likely separates them. Galloping Gander has been unable to build on his Ballysteen success lately, however he could get involved if back to his best.

STRANGSMILL has to be considered very unfortunate to be still running in maidens as she was narrowly beaten on her opening two starts before passing the post in front at Curraheen last month only to be subsequently disqualified. It would be most unfortunate if she was to end the season without a deserved success. Trepuco Mist finished second against geldings in a Confined maiden recently, and it will be interesting to see how she fares here, whilst Moonlight Whispers and Ourgirlheidi are other potential dangers.

CHASE THE CLOUDS is also entered in the Adjacent maiden on Saturdays card and whichever of these two engagements that he takes up, he should prove tough to beat in following a brace of placed efforts this season. Kinsale Arts Week disappointed last time, however he has previous placed form to his name, whilst Fact Flow is rarely out of the placings, and another consistent run can be expected here.
