Track Biography:
Rathcannon point-to-point has played host to many Hunts over the years and more recently to the Limerick Foxhounds & the Limerick Foxhounds Bruff point-to-point committee.
Many talented riders and horses have graduated from the Limerick Foxhounds point-to-point both when racing on the past venues and presently at Rathcannon.
The track itself is a left-handed course and has been in operation since 2008.
Our race meeting is situated just 40 minutes from Limerick city and just half an hour from the scenic town of Adare, making a trip to Rathcannon point-to-point part of a perfect Family Sunday.
How To Get There

By Road
From Limerick, take the M20 and at junction 5 exit onto the N20 Cork/Croom road. Stay on the N20 until you reach Banogue at which point the point-to-point will be sign posted from there. The race track is two miles from the village of Athlacca.
By Air
Shannon Airport is a 45 minute drive from the point-to-point.
Cork Airport is located an hour and twenty five minutes away.

ALONE NO MORE acquitted himself very strongly to competitive action at Tinahely earlier this month when falling at the last whilst launching a serious challenge to the eventual winner Manitowoc County. That opening effort will have brought him along nicely and he should be the one to beat of those with previous form to their name. General Consensus finished placed at Loughrea last April in a fair showing, whilst of the newcomers Finians Oscar, Mythical Prince and Minella Encore are all well-bred individuals worth noting.

The Liam Kenny-trained Swift Crusader has hit the crossbar on two occasions in competitive heats and he sets the standard in this contest as a result on his fourth career start. Hogans Height finished placed on debut at Dromahane at the tail of last season and can step-up on that, whilst the newcomer from the Colin Bowe yard, Buberry, has a noteworthy pedigree, as he is a half-brother to the Grade 2 winner Snowy Morning and is worth checking out in the preliminaries.

MONEYSTOWN stayed-on very eye-catchingly in the closing stages on her debut at Tinahely earlier this month and it will be interesting to follow her progress here to see if she is capable of building-up from that effort. Aines Choice was a beaten favourite on her pointing debut at Loughrea last Sunday in testing conditions, however she was not beaten far on that occasion and can certainly land a blow here. The Robert Tyner-trained newcomer Annie News is out of a two-time hurdle winner and she represents a stable who had a winner last weekend.

SWEET AS A NUT has been very impressive in the two winning performances he has produced to date, and on the evidence of his latest wide-margin success at Castletown-Geoghegan on the opening weekend of the season, he is a very promising horse who will take plenty of beating. Teds Island is a consistent performer who was far from disgraced on the track during the summer, whilst Arthropod won his maiden last time out, and has snippets of nice track form to his name.

The David Christie-trained MAPLE MONS will likely be a very warm order for this contest as she looks to record her fourth straight success, and is the only horse in the line-up proven at Open level. Track recruit Abigail Lynch could be the chief danger having previously been rated 132 over hurdles. The daughter of Oscar will however have to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Castletown last time. Rock Solid and Spring Pools are both winners this season, although only at maiden level.

Preview
POCKET TALK disappointed on his final start last season at Ballyarthur when pulling-up having been sent off as the short-priced favourite. Prior to that he had finished placed in races which have produced subsequent winners, and he is therefore worthy of second chance here. Royal Haslar was unable to make much of an impact in two starts under rules, however prior to that he had run with real credit between the flags and is deserving of respect here. Track recruit Red Jacket has a rating of 97 over hurdles having finished third in a maiden hurdle in the past, and he has ability, although is returning from an absence.
