Track Biography:

The County Down hunt have been in existence since the early 1900’s. We have held our point-to-point meeting at Loughbrickland for over 70 years by kind permission of the Kidd family. Our autumn meeting is run in November each year with our spring fixture taking place in April.

Over the years, Loughbrickland point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2003 Aintree Grand national winner Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.

One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

Our point-to-point is located 15 minutes away from the picturesque Slieve Gullion Forest Park which has something for all of the family including woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins as well as a play park and tour guides of the park. 

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin – Take the M1 and then exit onto the A1. Loughbrickland is approx. 15 minutes north of Newry. The village is on the left hand side and from there turn right following the signs to get to the track.


By Air

Our point-to-point is located one hour and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 50 minutes from Belfast International airport.

RAVENSDALE ran with credit on his debut when not beaten far at Maralin in a smart looking maiden. He can show the required progression to score here. Minellatilmorning looks a nice type who was third on debut and catching the eye before falling last time and could be the main danger. Scotshill was close up when falling at the last on debut and is one to take note of also. The consistent General Consensus is another with claims here.

AS THE CROW FLIES has been second twice in points and also showed his worth when fourth in a bumper. His recent effort when narrowly beaten at Maralin suggests he is the one to beat here. Rossamilan has two decent efforts when completing to recommend and he looks a danger while Lacken Bridge was second at Loughrea and is another who will be challenging in the latter stages. Mcgroarty was second last time and is going the right way also.

NICKEL has been close up second and third on her last two outings and looks to be knocking on the door. This could be the opportunity she has been waiting for. Knocklayde Sno Cat is also coming here with some very decent recent form and will again be close up. Petite Royale was a promising third behind an above average winner at Dowth and can again expect to play a leading role here.

QUIET ACCOUNT may have needed the run last time when second to Valmy Baie and the winning margin doesn?t do justice to the run this fellow produced. He was a notable improver last season and should be able to return to winning ways here. Ourmanmassini has been busy this season and whilst winning twice has also finished placed twice and he too will be close up again here. Grand Jesture is a fascinating addition here and if jumping off has the class to compete.

INCITATUM stands out here having been placed second in a point and also some very notable placed track efforts to call on also. He should be able to collect on this occasion. Pointview Gale is a disqualified winner so is proven capable of winning while Sprintingforgold returns from an absence and showed ability on his debut. Isle Road has recent form to see him challenge here while Burton Hall would represent a real danger on a return to his best track efforts also.
