Track Biography:
Established in 1942 the Dungarvan Farmers point-to-point still operates on its original site at Kilossera, just two kilometres outside of Dungarvan town centre.
The prime agricultural land beneath “the hill” creates a wonderful natural amphitheatre for one of the South East’s oldest and most famous point-to-points.
Run across the Curran, Sheehan and Kiely lands for generations, the Kilossera point-to-point has a strong tradition of future stars coming to the fore. Previous luminaries include Grand National winner Monty’s Pass, Lexus Chase winner Pandorama, and RSA Chase winner Jessies Dream.
Kilossera has also been a happy hunting ground for young jockeys such as Ted Walsh, Adrian Maguire and Davy Russell having ridden winners here during their careers.
How To Get There
By Road
From Dungarvan take the N25 Waterford-Cork road in the direction of Cork. The point-to-point will be located at Kilossera, the second right turn after Déise Vets. The point-to-point will be well signposted on the route.
Dungarvan is well serviced by regular buses from Waterford, Cork and Dublin. Taxis are available outside the Lady Belle pub in Dungarvan town centre and a trip to the point-to-point will cost around €7.

Our point-to-point is located 50 minutes from Cork airport and 2 hours from Dublin airport.

The very well-bred SHIMMERS ROCK, a half-sister to the 2013 Cheltenham Festival winner The New One, ran a cracking race on debut at Dromahane over Christmas, when she was only narrowly beaten despite showing notable signs of greenness. It will be disappointing if she cannot back that up with success here. Aunt Eva finished second last Sunday at Killeagh and can be a danger here, however she holds an easier alternative at Kilfeacle which may leave Going Away or Pineapple Crush, who both finished in the money on their latest outings, as the big challengers.

KNOCKOURA created a good impression with his debut second at Lisronagh before Christmas when only going down by a length, and that opening effort should see him go close here. Minella Mischief returns from a break and is likely the big danger, given that he chased home a decent looking sort in Golden Drumlee at Maralin in late October. Stand Down followed-up his fourth-placed effort at Mainstown with a similar performance at Tinahely earlier this month and looks consistent whilst Shakleton is another who can get involved.

Despite only six entries for the Confined contest, half of the field have shown some recent form by finishing second in either of their last two starts, with preference given to the Declan Queally-trained Fennos Storm, who finished a close second to Change Your Story at Dromahane over Christmas on his pointing debut. Deise Dougal is unexposed and could step-up from his debut second at Lisronagh prior to Christmas, whilst Easy On Sunday could be a live danger if bouncing back to his Kinsale effort, having failed to get involved on his seasonal re-appearance.

SECRET MAHLER was unable to follow-up his debut second from Loughanmore at Tinahely earlier this month when giving way early in the home straight. A first outing in older maiden company however could provide him with a winning opportunity. Real Warrior is the obvious danger having finished placed at Loughbrickland on his initial outing before falling whilst involved in the place battle at Borris House last month. Jammin Masters could be of interest on debut as a rare son of Sinndar to run between the flags, with both of that stallions previous runners in points enjoying success.
