Track Biography:
Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Fairwood Park also plays host to the Tinahely Agricultural Show each summer which is one of Ireland's longest running agricultural show.
Jamie Codd, who is the second winning-most point-to-point rider in the history of the sport became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.
Previous track winners to have won at Tinahely include former Grade One winner Fundamentalist and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own.
Tinahely is situated in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, the garden of Ireland. Located just an hour and half from the bustle of Dublin city, Tinahely is a pretty village in south west Wicklow that offers a variety of walking opportunities and a gateway to the beautiful Irish landscape.
How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin – Take the M50 southbound and turn onto the M11. At Junction 16, take the R772 to Rathnew. Continue on the R752/753 where the track will be sign posted.
From Waterford – Take the N9 until junction 5 where you need to take the N80 exit for Carlow/Rosslare.
By Air
Tinahely point-to-point is located an hour and forty minutes from Dublin airport.

Henrys Joy is one of four horses with a previous competitive outing under his belt as he finished third behind Dorydalis at Ballinaboola on the opening weekend of the month. Having stayed-on strongly on that occasion, the step-up to 3 miles should suit. The Colin Bowe-trained Darius Des Bois was likely set for second at Tallow behind the impressive Castlebrook which would bring him into the reckoning. Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown House Stud introduced last years World Hurdle runner-up Alpha Des Obeaux to win this race in 2014 and their representative Valdieu is a 54,000 purchase out of the Land Rover sale.

Grade 1 winner Sir Des Champs is a former Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up and if he was to make his point-to-point debut he would have to be feared despite having appeared to lose his way in his final couple of outings for Willie Mullins. However preference is given to GRAND JESTURE who won the second of his two open races this season at Oldtown by a distance a fortnight ago. Home Farm battled well to win at Tyrella and is better than his Belharbour second, Need To Know can never be ruled out for a race around here having run well behind On His Own last month, whilst Valco De Touzaine is a 140-rated chaser who was well fancied for his pointing debut at Punchestown before being withdrawn on his way to post.

DELGANY LASS was unable to ever get into a challenging position at Ballinaboola two weeks ago on what was her third start. That was probably the most competitive race she has lined-up in to date, and having only went down by a length around here in January, she may be able to find a winnable opportunity here. Poppy Hill was sent off as the favourite for a four-year-old mares race on debut last season and she could well return a stronger sort following the summer break, whilst Aines Choice is yet to repeat her Loughrea third from the autumn but could get involved if doing so on her return from a break.

Despite potentially running for the third straight week, LACKEN BRIDGE has proven that he is in great form at present with comfortable successes at Tallow and Kirkistown lately, and he would have to be of real interest to continue that winning run. Fightfirewithfire battled gamely too get off the mark at Ballinaboola recently and he is sure to be a big danger here, whilst Carraig Thuathail is a capable sort in races of this nature. The mares Touchy and Chapter Two have both enjoyed previous success around this course and the 5lb allowance will help them to mix it up amongst the geldings here.

The Mr Combustible gelding chased home his stable companion Captain CJ at Oldtown two weeks ago on what was his second time to fill the runners-up sport. Maiden success could await here. Imperial Oscar finished second in a brace of five-year-old maidens back in 2012, and it will be interest to see how he fares on his return from a four year absence.
