Track Biography:

The Tynan and Armagh hunt can be traced back as far as 1840, when Sir James Stronge of Tynan Abbey estate started the pack at his own expense calling it the Tynan Harriers. The Tynan Harriers sometimes hunted with Lord Waterford’s Armagh Harriers and from these two the Tynan and Armagh hunt was born in 1895.

The first point-to-point was organised in 1895 and has remained at Farmclaffey since then making it one of the oldest point-to-points on the fixture list.

Over the years, Farmacaffley point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2002 Grand National winning Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.

ANSEANACHAI CLISTE kick-started a winning run of seven straight successes which took him to the Champion Point-to-Pointer crown when winning this race in good style 12 months ago. Whilst this is his seasonal re-appearance he is the class horse in the race. Crowded Room will likely give him a real test as this capable track performer was very impressive when winning at Kirkistown recently. They will ensure that this is an intriguing opener.

The Dreaper and Potts combination produced an impressive newcomer to win a similar contest at Tinahely last Sunday, and they could be represented by the well-bred SIZING ROME, an expensive sales purchase. Moneymaker was an early casualty at Tinahely last Sunday, however this well-bred Gigginstown House Stud-owned gelding proved himself in testing conditions at Nenagh last month when finishing third in a very competitive looking contest. Double You Bee bumped into a very smart type at Punchestown on debut and is expected to go close whilst Ravensdale was unable to follow-up his encouraging third at Tattersalls in November when only finishing fifth at Oldtown three weeks ago.

SEE WHAT was very unlucky not to get off the mark at Tinahely last month when going down by just a head in a thrilling finish. Sent off as an odds-on favourite ahead of her latest start at Oldtown earlier this month, the Gavin Cromwell-trained mare appeared to come up against a decent sort and once again had to settle for the runner-up spot. Compensation can await here. The two-time placed Shroughmore Lass is consistent and sure to be involved. Commercial Ruin has come to grief on her latest two outings, including in this race 12 months ago and she could be a danger with a clean round of jumping, as would the debut third Outta The West.

ART OF LOGISITCS is a former Graded winner and he only found the up and coming Sprintingforgold too good on his pointing debut at Punchestown recently. A big run is expected. Ourmanmassini was a winner of three open lightweights during the autumn, and he comes here fresh following a mid-season break. Quiet Account signalled that he was coming back to form with a good run in the Hunter Chase at Leopardstown before unshipping at the final fence and he would look the likely danger. Clondaw Frisby is a very consistent performer who can never be discounted.

CROWDED ROOM was in a league of his own when getting off the mark at Kirkistown recently and this track recruit who has a host of placed form behind him, would look the one to beat if taking up this engagement on the card. Jammin Masters ran out a wide-margin winner of his maiden at Dungarvan before meeting with a narrow defeat at the hands of Suas Sios in Oldtown. If Crowded Room runs in the hunt race, he would look the obvious selection for this, whilst Battle Anthem may be next best.

Having caught the eye with his second placing at Lingstown in December, BEN BRODY is quite unlucky to remain a maiden as he has since finished in the runners-up spot on a further two occasions. A deserved elusive maiden success could await here. An unlucky early casualty at Tinahely last Sunday, Drimsree Lad brings a solid level of form to the race, as to does Top Tikket, a horse who has finished placed in each of his latest three outings.
