Track Biography:
The Route hunt have held point-to-point meetings at a number of venues since the 1930’s, before returning to their traditional picturesque venue of Portrush in 2016.
Previous track winners to have won at Portrush include one of the most talked about national hunt horses in training at the moment, Finian’s Oscar who won his four-year-old maiden at Portrush in October 2016 before selling for £250,000 at the Cheltenham sale the following month.
The charming Portrush is a holiday destination for many people, boosting the Famous Barry's amusements. Near the Giants Causeway, Dunluce Castle and Bushmills Distillery to name a few places of interest. The seaside town of Portrush is the ideal venue for an event of this nature as there is plenty of accommodation, so why not spend the weekend in the North of Ireland while taking in the point-to-point racing.

By Road
From Coleraine - on the A29 Ring Road towards Portrush at the last roundabout on the ring road take the last exit for Portrush, 200 yards on the left is the Loguestown road. The track is located approx. 1.5 miles on the Loguestown Road at the junction of the Roselick Road.

Gordon Elliott has two eye-catching newcomers for Gigginstown House Stud, with Deal With It a six-figure purchase as a three-year-old. Meanwhile, Home Place brings form to the race having finished fourth at Lemonfield earlier in the month.

Compensation may well await for the Ronnie Bartlett-owned son of Westerner. The French-bred newcomer Calisson Dalene is a well-related individual who may be best placed to challenge the selection. Hollybank King, Scottshill and Nobodydoesitbetter can all get involved in the place battle, whilst track-recruit Shumaker is set for his first start over fences here.

She would be a very deserving winner on this. Lovefromabove was unable to land a blow in six starts under rules for Dan Skelton, but it will be interesting to see how she fares back between the flags for Lyle Andrew.

This race will likely resolve around former Grade 1 winner FELIX YONGER who made a very impressive pointing debut at Kirkistown recently, form which has already taken a significant boost following the success of Cavite Beta at Maralin last Saturday. It is tough to look past him in this race. Need To Know excels around Tinahely where he tends to reserve the best of his form. Having been balloted out of the Foxhunters, he would look the main challenger to the selection, whilst Red Devil Lads could have his third start in as many weeks, and is improving with each outing.

The well-bred COMPLETE SIZING ran out an impressive winner on debut at Tinahely when justifying short-odds. He is likely to be just as short a price if turning up here as he is the clear horse to beat from an in-form yard. It was encouraging that Mias Milan posted a career best on his seasonal re-appearance and he makes the long journey from Wexford. Fellow Wexford raider Fightfirewithfire is better than his Lismore effort indicates and he can be expected to step-up, whilst Jack Devine, a recent winner at Horse And Jockey, is another who cannot be discounted.

The twice-placed Mullaghmurphy Blue is likely next best.
