Track Biography:
The County Down hunt have been in existence since the early 1900’s. We have held our point-to-point meeting at Loughbrickland for over 70 years by kind permission of the Kidd family. Our autumn meeting is run in November each year with our spring fixture taking place in April.
Over the years, Loughbrickland point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2003 Aintree Grand national winner Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.
One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.
Our point-to-point is located 15 minutes away from the picturesque Slieve Gullion Forest Park which has something for all of the family including woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins as well as a play park and tour guides of the park.
How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin – Take the M1 and then exit onto the A1. Loughbrickland is approx. 15 minutes north of Newry. The village is on the left hand side and from there turn right following the signs to get to the track.
By Air
Our point-to-point is located one hour and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 50 minutes from Belfast International airport.

Preview
HEROESANDVILLAINS finished third on debut for Donnchadh Doyle at Lingstown earlier this month and went with enough promise to suggest he can play a leading role here. On that occasion he jumped really well and was only headed approaching the second last. He is likely to improve with that effort behind him and he looks the one to side with in this contest. Overworkdunderpaid has done little wrong in two starts for trainer Colin Bowe and having finished second last time out, he should again run a solid race. The market should prove informative as to what is to be expected of the newcomers in the field.

LITTLE MILLIE has been ultra-consistent since making her debut at Tyrella in January. The Milan mare took another step in the right direction last time out when finishing second at Portrush and if in the same vein of form she should play a leading role. Dark Sunset went with plenty of promise on debut back in November and is an interesting runner off the back of a short break. Arctic Robin will look to bounce back having failed to complete last time out, while Sliabh Mhuire is another to consider.

This looks an open maiden but ROYAL RENDEZVOUS looks the most likely winner having caught the eye last time out behind tack winner De Rasher Counter. Trained by Virginia Considine, the Kings Theatre gelding had the race at his mercy last time out at Borris, before unfortunately coming down at the final fence. A reproduction of that effort should see him tough to beat here. Future Boy for Liam Kenny improved to finish second when last seen and is likely to improve again with that behind him. Ocean Cove, Getaking and Ravensdale are others who can get involved.

That was the Dr Massini geldings fourth win in eight starts and he should be a leading figure here again. Cavite Beta also comes here on the back of a win and looks a big threat to the selection. As The Crow Flies goes in search of a five-timer and demands plenty of respect, while Quiet Account and Mount Colah are others to consider.

HOLYCROSS LITO hasnt looked back since failing to complete on debut. The Beneficial mare has won her latest two starts by a combined 22-lengths and looks the one to side with here as she goes in search of a hat-trick of wins. Howaya Aoife showed plenty of ability when winning on debut and fell too early at Durrow last weekend to play a hand. If none the worse for the fall, hopefully she can get involved here. Lady Jameson hasnt been seen since winning in October but she looked good on that occasion and having been freshened up, she is likely to go well. Chapter Two is another to consider in a competitive event.

IMPERIAL OSCAR was in the process of running another fine race when coming down at the final fence at Ballyragget recently and if none the worse for the experience, he looks the one to side with. Top Tikket for George Stewart has placed on three of his five runs since making his debut in March last season and looks likely to play a hand in a finish. Bayard De Marcigny should improve with his initial run behind him, while Theatre One makes good appeal on his earlier form.
