Track Biography:

The Killultagh Hunt dates back to 1610, originally a Stag hunt, with scarlet livery. In 1832 Killultagh joined with the Old Rock harriers, whose livery was a dark bottle green. A short time later they amalgamated with the Earl of Chichester private pack, whose livery was old gold. They then became known as the Killultagh, Old Rock and Chichester Harriers. In the late 80’s the hunt changed from a harrier pack to a fox hound pack.

The Killultagh Hunt has been running Point-to-Point’s since the late 1800s, during the war the race was held near the old Enkalon site, in Antrim known as ‘The Bog Meadow’s’. In the 50’s and 60’s they located to Pigeon Town, Glenavy. Then moved to Ballyarnot, Aldergrove. Then Lennymore in Crumlin.

Our present meeting is held at the excellent location on the Largy Road, by kind permission of Dr Peter Fitzgerald and Randox Laboratories.

The new track is right handed, a slight incline from the last fence to the finish, with excellent viewing for the public as the whole course can be viewed from the main book makers/viewing area. A day out at Largy point-to-point is a perfect day in the countryside for all the family.

By Road

Take the M1 North from Dublin, Exit at Junction 9, take Moria/Airport road (A26), travel 9 miles to Nutts Corner Roundabout. Follow race signs to location.

From North West, follow signs to Belfast International Airport and take the A26. Travel 3 miles to Nutts Corner Rouandabout. Follow races signs to location

Our point-to-point is located less than 15 minutes from Belfast International Airport and under two hours from Dublin Airport.

GETAWAY MIXIE was in the process of posting a big effort when exiting three-out on debut at Durrow last month. The James King-trained mare had caught the eye on that occasion and is sure to play a leading role here, provided she puts in a clear round. Western Perk also failed to complete on debut but showed enough to suggest she can play a role here. Colin Bowe also has newcomer Malindi Bay entered and she is sure to be ready first time out if lining up, while the Sean-Doyle-trained Getaway Flyer is a danger on debut.

BANG BANG ROSIE has been unlucky not to have won a maiden at this stage but is a confident selection if taking her chance here. The Colin McBratney-trained mare was a faller when travelling well on debut and suffered a similar fate when unfortunately being brought down close home at Loughanmore recently. One of these races is well within her capabilities. Arctic Robin has run much better than her form figures suggest looks a danger to the selection. Drumconnor Girl looks best of the remainder.

Six wins from eight runs, the Gold Well gelding produced another top class effort to win by six-lengths at Quakerstown recently. He is taken to continue the good run if lining out again quickly. Ourmanmassini was unlucky to fall when taking on the selection recently and another clash would be interesting to see if the result will be the same. Stuart Crawford?s gelding is sure to improve with racing and this might be the time to catch him.
