Track Biography:
The Ormond Point to Point is staged on a Hunt Members farm just outside the village of Ballingarry (N52). It is run over 2 days, always the Sunday & Monday of the June Bank Holiday weekend, and is the final fixture of the Point to Point Season.
We have been fortunate enough to have many Point to Point champions crowned in Ballingarry. Derek O’Connor, Jamie Codd and Barry O’Neill have all won their titles at Ballingarry in recent times.
How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin – Head south on M7 take exit for Roscrea. In Roscrea follow signposts to Shinrone. Enter Shinrone turn left into village and then right out of village. 6Km to Ballingarry. In Ballingarry turn right in front of The Glue Pot pub. Then left out of the village. The course is less than 1km out of village on the left.
From Tullamore – Through Birr at round about past Count Arms Hotel take 3rd exit following the signpost for Borrisokane. Next round about take 3rd exit. Remain on this road for approx. 8km to Ballingarry. Half way through the village turn right for Aglish. The course is less than 1km out of village on the left.
From Limerick – M7 North. Take 1st Exit for Nenagh. Follow the signs for Borrisokane (12 KM from Nenagh). In Borrisokane drive through the town, at the bottom of the town turn right following the signs for Birr and Ballingarry (5km). Half way through the village past the pub turn left out of the village. The course is less than 1km out of village on the left.

Our point-to-point is located an hour and three quaters from Cork and Shannon Aiports, and just two hours from Dublin Airport.

MALACHYS GIRL posted a most encouraging debut effort when finishing second at Curraheen for handler Donnchadh Doyle. The Darsi mare slightly disappointed when finishing fourth on her second start but she is taken to bounce back here having been well supported on that occasion and looks the one to side with. Thirdtimeben showed good improvement from her debut effort, to finish third in a similar event at Grennan in early May. The Beneficial mare can play a leading role here if she continues to improve. Letitbeso can also be involved if taking her chance.

Trained by the in-form Colin Bowe, the Presenting mare was beaten by just a head at Curraheen when last seen and having placed twice previous to that effort, she is likely to make a bold bid. Sunrise Lady has finished second on her last two outings and is another who can be described as unlucky not to have won a maiden. Under similar positive tactics, she is likely to give her running again. Kilnesare Kate, Currigs Girl and Pinks look best of the remainder.

ISO JOE has had just one try on the pointing circuit and showed plenty of promise when beaten just three-lengths at Dromahane recently. Partnered by Jamie Codd on that occasion, he lacked the experience in the finish to throw down a challenge but looks sure to improve with that under his belt. Double You Be hails from the same yard and is another who posted a solid debut effort to finish second. Things havent gone to plan since but he is one that could easily bounce back and play a hand here. Boston Spray has placed twice in two starts for Joseph O Brien and is sure to be involved again, while O Hanrahan Bridge for Elizabeth Slevin and Three Loud Knocks for William Hanly are best of the rest.

LAGAN ISLAND fell early on when making his debut in late March but has since looked a different prospect. Second at Maralin, beaten just a neck, the Trans Island gelding ran out a ten-length winner of a maiden at Loughanmore most recently. That form has been boosted since with both the second and third placing. If in the same form, he should prove a tough nut to crack. Inaminna has placed twice since making a winning start to his career and his experience in similar events is sure to a help as he looks to provide Colin Bowe with another winner. Rattle The Cage and Drimsree Lad are consistent performers who again are likely to play a role.

MAPLE MONS unseated Barry O Neill last week at Inchydoney and will look to get back on track here and record another success this season. David Christies mare was a 12-length winner of a hunter chase at Fairyhouse earlier in the season and goes in search of her sixth success on the pointing circuit this term. Queen Barack has won two of her last three starts and the recent Tralee winner is sure to make a bold bid if making a quick reappearance. Castlewhite looks best of the remainder of the seven runners entered.

Beaten ten-lengths on that occasion, he travelled well throughout before tiring in the closing stages. With improvement likely, the Turtle Island gelding looks the one to side with. Nothingeasy has had eight starts since April of last year and the consistent type can run another solid race here. Definite Empire is the standout of the reminder.
