Track Biography:
Dawstown point-to-point is traditionally held on the Monday of the May long weekend. We run the event with the kind permission of the Muskerry Hunt,and the land owners Mr John Lynch.
The present location in Birch Hill has been our home for last 15 Years. Prior to this we were situated in Dawstown for approximately 12 years. Our point-to-point has been held every year without fail with over 25 Years.
There has been many horses that have ran in Dawstown over the years. Second in thia years Irish National, Isleofhopeanddreams was second at Dawstown on debut when under the care of Roisin Hickey. Shanahans Turn's kicked off his career with a win as a five-year-old in 2013 and has seen gone on to win the 2015
A day out at Dawstown point-to-point is a perfect excuse to get out into the Irish countryside. Our race track is easily accessible with a 1 way system in operation before and during the race meeting.
We are situated just of the M20 Motorway, situated between Blarney and Grenagh.
We attract runners from all over the East Coast in addition to the South and from the West and Mid West.
Experienced horse men and jockeys would rate our track as a very good race track with a good finishing straight.

By Road
From Mallow/Limerick - Travel on N20, follow directional signs at Rathduff, and turn off to right.
From Cork City/Waterford/Wexford/Dublin - travel on N20, turn off to left at Waterloo Junction, and follow directional signs to race field.
There will be signposts for the track also.

We are situated approximately 30 minutes from Cork Airport.

A total of 43 entries for the first race on the card and the Colin Bowe-trained RISKY GOLD looks the standout of those with form in the large field. Fourth on debut at Durrow in late March, he held every chance coming to the second last showing signs of inexperience on the run to the line. He looked sure to improve with that run under his belt and looks the one to side with here. Big Difference is also entered here for the same trainer and merits plenty of respect if taking up this engagement. Un Huit Huit, Commodore Barry and Rough Night look best of the remainder.

OVER STATED has failed to complete in three starts for trainer Tom Keating but has shown enough to suggest he is well capable of winning an event like this. The Shantou gelding was a length down when falling at the final fence at Monksgrange late last month and the better ground conditions are likely to play to his strengths. Knockoura has posted two solid efforts to date, finishing a close-up second on both occasions. Trained by Roisin Hickey, the Westerner gelding was beaten by a decent sort in Celtic Rising last time out, a horse that has gone on to sell for 60,000 euros at the Tattersalls Cheltenham sales in February. If continuing to build on that form, he should go close. Ringmoylan, Three Loud Knocks, Well Tom and White Moon look the dangers to the selection.

The Brian Boru gelding made a successful return at Stradbally last weekend to finally shed his maiden tag for trainer Willie Codd. He is likely to improve for that reappearance. Trained by Sean Byrne, the Rajj gelding moved smoothly into the race on his debut, ultimately losing out by two-lengths to Pop The Champers, who has since given the form a nice boost by running out a 12-length winner at Ballysteen last weekend. Circuit Court has been a model of consistency for Willie Codd and deserves to get his head in front following two second placed finishes. Imperial Oscar, Dr Des, Ifindoubtsaynout and Rockmount Rocker look the best of the remainder.
