Track Biography:
The records show The Fermanagh Harriers Point to Point Steeplechases began an annual fixture as far back as 1905, when the races were held at Dunbar outside Enniskillen. This is the location of our annual Boxing Day Hunt today!
Over the years the venue has changed once or twice but it has been held at the current location, Necarne Castle, since 1999.
Necarne Castle is located adjacent to the town of Irvinestown and it is with the kind permission of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council thet we have been able to avail of this excellent venue.
Traditionally our Two-day meeting takes place Early-Mid May, which normally leads to some added excitement as various riders are usually vieing for the jockeys championship at this closing stage of the season.
Course preparation and the running of the point to point is all done on a voluntary basis by the members of the Hunt
How To Get There
By Car
From Belfast -Take the M1 out of Belfast City and continue to join the A4. At the roundabout take the Tullyvar Rd/A5. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the B46. Follow B46 to Tummery Rd/A32 in Dromore. Continue to Irvinestown, continue to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.
From Dublin - From the M50 take exit 6 onto the Navan Rd towards the N3. Continue on the N3 to join the M3, N3, A509 and A32 to Fermanagh. Continue on the A32 to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.

Our point-to-point is situated just under 2 and a half hours from Dublin Airport and one hour and three quarters from Belfast International Airport.

Sent off as a short-priced favourite for her debut at Curraheen, MALACHYS GIRL only went down by a length on that occasion and can be expected to gain compensation here. Jennifer Juniper stepped-up from her Bellurgan debut at Fairyhouse when chasing home Northern Beau, a horse who advertised the form when winning again at Rathcannon last Sunday. With that timely form boost, she would look a serious danger. Largy runner-up Hawthorn Cottage and Bellurgan Park-third Tillythetank are the others who can be expected to make a play for maiden success.

Having placed on successive outings at Durrow and Loughanmore, supporters of ROKAZO could have been forgiven for expecting a stronger showing from her at Loughrea when finishing fifth. That was however an ultra-competitive contest and this race would look prime for the taking. Someone New had shown positively for a long way on her debut at Liscarroll in late March before taking a heavy final fence. She can get involved, as to can the Colin Bowe pairing of Gortnagirl and Stetsonsanstilletos, who have both gone close in recent times.

Having offered plenty of encouragement with each of his three starts this term, BACK TO BATAAN would be a very worthy winner of this contest, particularly having hit the crossbar on each of his latest two outings at Kirkistown and Largy. After coming down at the final fence on his debut at Killeagh, What Another Year was expected to go close at Lemonfield on his next outing. Whilst well-held in third, he can bounce back here following a break. Definite Plan has progressed with each outing and was not beaten far at Loughrea most recently, ensuring he could be best of the rest.

That saw him move one clear of Sprintingforgold in that particular title race. Whichever of that pair turn up here should prove very tough to beat. Freewheelin Dylan takes a first step-up to open company having won twice at a lower level in recent times, but he could prove to be best of the rest.

EDDIES MIRACLE recorded his third success of the season, and second in succession in good style at Broughshane a fortnight ago when comfortably accounting for the potentially re-opposing Freewheelin Dylan. That pair would look to set the standard here once again with preference given to the locally based Eddied Miracle to confirm the Broughshane placings. Drimsree Lad, stable companion of Freewheelin Dylan, has been in good form of late and he is entitled to go close having narrowly lost out at Oldcastle.
