Track Biography:

Formed in 1825, The Iveagh Foxhounds hunt is a famous hunt that has its place in Baily’s chronology of master ship. The Iveagh hunt hosts two point-to-points during the season, an Autmun fixture and a Spring fixture.

There has been many notable performances over the years at the Iveagh hunt santioned race meeting, Grade One winner Roi Du Mee made his only point-to-point appearance at the fixture when he won in October 2016.

Our point-to-point is nestled in the beautiful Northern Ireland countryside and is a perfect day out for all the family.

Colin Bowe has his four-year-olds in top form and so it would be difficult to look past his BIG DIFFERENCE in this as that son of Presenting had finished third in both starts last season, including in a top-notch contest at Loughanmore last Easter. Once he handles the softer ground conditions, he sets the standard. The Donnchadh Doyle pair of Sporting Press and Oscar Flame will likely not be too far away, with Mayohill a horse with recent race fitness to his name having run at Castletown earlier this month.

GOLD RUNNER was unlucky to make a crucial final fence error at Castletown on the opening day of the season and she can gain compensation here. Chesapeake finished behind her on that occasion and will need to step up to overturn that margin. Of the others, the newcomer, Castafiore Park, could be one to watch out for as she is a well-bred individual hailing from the Paul Nolan yard.

LAGAN ISLAND has switched stables since his wide-margin success at Loughanmore last Easter, and he would look the clear form horse on the evidence of that winning effort, as he makes his debut for the Sean McParlan yard. Benarty Hill ran as recently as last Saturday at Loughanmore, when finishing third behind Captain CJ, and so has race fitness on his side, whilst Milan Dancer comes into the race in good form having recorded her maiden success last Saturday.

This a very open looking contest which features a number of interesting newcomers, such as the French-bred BATCIO from the Ted Walsh yard and Davy Street, a rare son of Grape Tree Road to run between the flags. Of those who have seen action in the past, Scottshill took a big step forward at Castletown two weeks ago, and could have finished closer but for a mistake at the final fence. He has the experience in the book to make it count here.

CAVITE BETA put together a run of three straight victories in open company last season, including at this venue back in March. Whilst he suffered two defeats at short odds to finish that campaign, he could well get back to winning ways here. Eddies Miracle is sure to come on from his seasonal re-appearance at Castletown and he proved to be a very progressive performer last season. Sizing Coal and Horendus Hulabaloo both could make their open debuts here.

STREETS OF MILAN is back from 12 months off the track following a very disappointing run at Dowth Hall. Prior to that, he had put in two very decent efforts in the five-year-old division and a repeat of either of those efforts would see him tough to beat here. Tempepoint and Beech Hill are the likely alternatives.
