Track Biography:

Aghabullogue has been in operation since 1988.  The course is situated just outside Aghabullogue village.  Many people park in the village and walk down to the course.

The point-to-point is run over John Murphy’s land who is also our chairman and has been from day one. The course itself is a real test of stamina and it is a great viewing track for spectators.

Over the years many top racehorses have won at Aghabullogue including Cheltenham Foxhunters winner Whyso Mayo who has won three times here at Aghabullogue, Lovely Citizen who also won the Cheltenham Foxhunters and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Call who was also trained on the land.

Colin Bowe won a mares maiden last Sunday and his two entries, Go Millie Go and ITS ALL A LARK, are the only two horses in here to have previously completed a race. The former was a beaten favourite at Knockinroe when finishing behind Expresstime who ran well at Templencarriga on Sunday. Of the newcomers, Megaboost, represents the in-form Mick Goff team and he trained her full-brother, Clondaw Fonz, to win a four-year-old maiden at Mainstown and any market confidence behind her would be noteworthy.

Stable companions Big Difference and DUC DALLIER have both finished in the placings previously, but the pair are also looking to put disappointing recent showings behind them. Preference is given to the French-bred latter, as he finished third in the Portrush maiden which produced the recent 24-length Down Royal bumper winner, Brace Yourself, in October. Clondaw Ace was fancied to run well last Sunday when coming to grief, whilst Landofsmiles was not beaten too far on his debut at Tralee in May.

In a very competitive looking race, the mare, WILCOSDIANA, could continue her excellent form this season with a first success against geldings in open company. She was last seen scoring in a hunter chase at Cork, in a success which earned Maxine O Sullivan the AtTheRaces Ride of the Month accolade. On the line through Eddies Miracle, she could have the measure of Sydney Paget, whilst Templencarriga winner My Murphy and the consistent pairing of Minella For Value and Truckin All Night, add plenty of depth to the race.

CLOONE LADY can make amends for a penultimate fence departure at Boulta last month with success in this small field contest. Ballindenisk fourth, Honest To Goodness, could offer the pick of the dangers if at her best here, whilst the newcomer Alsa Mix is worth a market check ahead of her debut.

If TIMEWAITSFORNOONE is anywhere near the level which saw him win his four-year-old maiden at Tinahely for Colin Bowe, this should be little more than a penalty kick for him. This will be a first start for new connections for the Oscar gelding who was sold for over 200,000 pounds at the Cheltenham Festival, but the form of his maiden has worked out well with the runner-up, Minds Eye, winning at Leopardstown over Christmas. The remainder look very evenly matched.

KEEL OVER was still in front when unshipping with four to jump at Borris House last time out, and whilst that was a second departure from his last three starts, he is taken to overturn the form with the ever-consistent Troll Doudairies, with little separating the pair when they met at Mainstown. Walk Waterford, who has now finished second on his latest two outings is the other for the shortlist.
