Track Biography:

Established in 1942 the Dungarvan Farmers point-to-point still operates on its original site at Kilossera, just two kilometres outside of Dungarvan town centre.

The prime agricultural land beneath “the hill” creates a wonderful natural amphitheatre for one of the South East’s oldest and most famous point-to-points.

Run across the Curran, Sheehan and Kiely lands for generations, the Kilossera point-to-point has a strong tradition of future stars coming to the fore. Previous luminaries include Grand National winner Monty’s Pass, Lexus Chase winner Pandorama, and RSA Chase winner Jessies Dream.

Kilossera has also been a happy hunting ground for young jockeys such as Ted Walsh, Adrian Maguire and Davy Russell having ridden winners here during their careers.

Our parade ring provides a ringside view of the horses. Due to Dungarvan’s large attendances and competitive racing the bookmakers ring is a vibrant and competitive one, with 15 bookmakers setting up stalls in 2016 and reporting a roaring trade.

Along with having a number of portaloos located around the track, we have changing facilities for babies.

We also have a wide flat expanse at the finish line that is perfectly suited to wheelchair users.

We have the usual hot food options with delicious burgers, chips and fish on offer from our outside catering vendor.

This is complemented by wonderful artisan food offering gourmet cakes from the Village baker in Villierstown.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.

We also have an artisan coffee stall synonymous with Dungarvan’s famous farmers market.

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to dress for the weather as appropriate.
Yes, we allow dogs to attend the point-to-point. However, we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics as our parking inside the centre of the course offers the perfect location for a picnic. We also have a range of catering options on course if you fancy picking-up something tasty on the go.
Yes we provide bouncy castles and pony rides to keep our younger racegoers entertained.
No unfortunately we do not provide an ATM but the service station at the closest roundabout to Dungarvan is located 1km from the track.

The Kilossera point-to-point is famous for the view from the hill overlooking the course. The hill provides a wonderful vantage point for every race and below you lies all that the Kilossera point-to-point has to offer.

On the day we provide bouncy castles and pony rides to keep our younger racegoers entertained.

Our point-to-point is located only five minutes away from the coastal town of Dungarvan which has an abundance of pubs and restaurants as well as plenty of popular tourist attractions such as the Waterford Greenway, Dungarvan Castle and the nearby Ardmore adventures.

ALWAYS ON THE BALL is the only one of the 17 horses entered in here that has previously completed a race ? his best performance coming when chasing home Sometime Soon at Kirkistown. His conqueror that day has was sold for 225,000 in the Cheltenham Sales ring afterwards, and with the fifth-placed horse in that race, Kapgarry, having won a big field maiden at Tinahely last Sunday, he is a notable runner here. Donnchadh Doyle unleashed an impressive newcomer at Killeagh last week, so his two entries, Ballybreen and King Of The Sharks, likely of note, with the latter costing 54,000 as a three-year-old.

CHANCE IT ran right through the summer where a close third at Wexford over hurdles in early September would give him leading claims on what would be his first start between the flags for some time. Newcomer Fab Vinnie, will look to emulate the second-placed finish of his half-sister Coolagh Moll, in this race two years ago, the pair being the first two foals produced out of Myirishmoll who carried the same colours to win a Kinsale maiden in 2009.

Former Grade 1 winner Morning Assembly has not been seen since finishing eighth in the 2016 Aintree Grand National, and as he has a substantial absence to overcome, preference is given to SYDNEY PAGET who returned to winning ways with a comfortable success at Aghabullogue. Minella For Value is back in search of a second successive victory in this race, and he should improve for his reappearance run, whilst proven winter ground performers, My Murphy and Rue Hill, are closely matched on their Templencarriga run and are worthy contenders.

COMMANDING SPIRIT took advantage of a late faller to finish second for his second straight start, in what appeared to be a significantly above average race at Borris before Christmas. Seedorf was still involved when coming down four-out at Dromahane in November and would certainly be a danger on his third placing at Lisronagh earlier in the autumn, whilst Batchelors Walk and Chance It, are two horses with placed track form to their names.
