Track Biography:

Formed in 1825, The Iveagh Foxhounds hunt is a famous hunt that has its place in Baily’s chronology of master ship. The Iveagh hunt hosts two point-to-points during the season, an Autmun fixture and a Spring fixture.

There has been many notable performances over the years at the Iveagh hunt santioned race meeting, Grade One winner Roi Du Mee made his only point-to-point appearance at the fixture when he won in October 2016.

Our point-to-point is nestled in the beautiful Northern Ireland countryside and is a perfect day out for all the family.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin – Take the M1 from the city and follow the road for Belfast until you see signs for Moira. From Moira town follow signs for the point-to-point.

From Belfast- Take the M1 until Moira. From Moira follow the signs for the point-to-point which is located on the A3.

By Air

Our point-to-point is located 30 minutes from Belfast International airport and 30 minutes from Belfast city airport.

Facilities

We have free parking for spectators and sections that can be used to facilitate disabled parking with clear views of the track along with a man-made bank to help with viewing.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Food

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies and they sell an array of hot food options such as burgers, chips, sausages and chicken goujons.

All patrons are welcome to pack a picnic style lunch to enjoy during the races.

There are a number of award winning restaurants in the local vicinity, why not drop in post racing and spend some of your winnings on a well deserved meal !  The track is less then a mile from such restaraunts as Wine & Brine, The Fat Gherkin and McCartney's.

Beverages

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.

If you would like something a little stronger to keep you warm during your days racing, alcohol can be purchased in our on-course bar.

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

No, we do not have an official dress code however we advise our racegoers to come prepared for all types of weather. Warm clothes, wellies and umbrellas are advised.

Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.

Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments.

At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.

No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby town of Moira which is only a short drive from the point-to-point.

Amenities

Moira point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in Northern Ireland located only 30 minutes from Belfast city centre which makes it extremely accessible for visitors to combine a city break with a day out in the countryside.

Also as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.

Moira is very lucky to have a selection of award winning restaurants within the town such as Wine & Brine, The Fat Gherkin and McCartney’s.

EMPORER OF WEST was still travelling well when exiting at the third-last in a small-field maiden at Moig South and he could gain compensation in this as he represents a very much in-form yard. The Colin Bowe-trained Tanrudy finished fourth behind the impressive Malone Road on his debut at Loughanmore and it will be interesting to see how he fares here, whilst there are a number of well-bred newcomers entered in here who can figure in this.

She can step up from that fourth place finish here. Timetochill disappointed at Tyrella last time, but if she was able to recapture her best, it would be no surprise to see her put up the stiffest challenge.

CLONDAW FRISBY recorded his fifth success of the season at Armagh in February and he ran a cracking race to chase home Eddies Miracle in a hunter chase at Down Royal last time. He is in good form at present and can add to his tally in this. Milan Flyer won his first race for some time at Loughanmore over Easter and so has to be respected, whilst Coolnagorna Giggs only lost out by a neck in a thrilling finish at Ballyragget.
