Track Biography:

Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Fairwood Park also plays host to the Tinahely Agricultural Show each summer which is one of Ireland's longest running agricultural show.

Jamie Codd, who is the second winning-most point-to-point rider in the history of the sport became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.

Previous track winners to have won at Tinahely include former Grade One winner Fundamentalist and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own.

Tinahely is situated in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, the garden of Ireland. Located just an hour and half from the bustle of Dublin city, Tinahely is a pretty village in south west Wicklow that offers a variety of walking opportunities and a gateway to the beautiful Irish landscape.

The Donnchadh Doyle-trained SPORTING PRESS will go in search of compensation here, as he was well-supported ahead of his return at this venue last month. Making much of the running, he had the misfortune of bumping into a potential smart rival in Whisperinthebreeze. With plenty of experience behind him, he can get his head in front here. Of the dangers, Cooldine Bog finished third last Saturday to the mightily impressive Danny Kirwan, Sneaky Pint stayed-on late to finish third at Rathcannon in May, whilst Sparkleandshine was still running well when coming down three-out around here last month.

AGENT MEMPHIS made her debut around here last month when valiantly going down fighting to a well thought of mare in Castafiore Park. It would be no surprise to see her go one better here having already proven that she acts on the course. How Are U Doing is held by the selection on that run, so it may prove to be Native Way that is the big danger on her return to action, as she finished off last season with a third position to subsequent Perth bumper winner, Grageelagh Girl, at Grennan.

Over The Arch was unable to follow-up two very promising efforts in the spring on his re-appearance run around here last month, when comfortably beaten in fourth by Shantaluze. That spring form is the best form on offer of those with previous experience, but it may be worth following a newcomer in MOUNT RUSHMOORE. A half-brother to the capable four-time winning mare, Whos That, he has a nice pedigree, and represents Richard Black, who saddled Shantaluze to beat Over The Arch around here last month, so will have a good handle on the form.

BURNING AMBITION posted two very impressive displays in his final two outings of last season, landing a Cragmore maiden which has produced four subsequent winners, including hunter chase victor Black Scorpion, before following-up with a wide-margin beating of Buzzkillbob who finished second in a big field handicap chase at Galway on Monday. Back from his summer break, he could be a tough horse to oppose. Locally trained mare, Dinos Benefit, has race fitness on her side following a win around here last month, but this looks a tougher heat, with Rare Legend back in points having finished second at Wexford in April.

Such has been the great start to the season that Pat Doyle has enjoyed, he sits at the head of the trainers leaderboard, and he can pick-up a fourth winner of the season here with SAMANNTOM. A wide-margin winner of a ladies contest around here last month, it will take a big performance to get in front of this nine-year-old. Champion Pointer Ourmanmassini is held by the selection on their Castletown run, however, he is expected to have improved from that run, whilst Punchestown Festival winner, Mtada Supreme, is a course specialist who has won three-times around here in the past and is expected to put up a bold showing on his return between the flags.

There may not be a great deal separating those horses which we have seen running in point-to-points to date, however it may the former track performer, EAGLE RIDGE, who takes plenty of beating. A well-bred individual, the Oscar gelding finished a close fifth in a Navan bumper on debut before finishing third at Punchestown last season. He could get his head in front following a disappointing display during the summer. Lighting Tunes, Our Harry, Lady Mangan and Keel Over look tightly matched as next best.
