Track Biography:

The Hunt dates back to the early 20th century and has been running point-to-point meetings since the mid-1950s. This is our third track to run Askeaton point-to-point on. The first being where the County Limericks have run for the past few years. Adrian Maguire rode his 1st winner there for Michael Hourigan. This was a track PP Hogan had many great days on with the likes of the great Underway, Any Crack, Shrewd Operator and many more.

Then we moved to Toomdeely where the late John Thomas McNamara rode his first winner, for his uncle Andrew, on our first day there in 1996. There were plenty of good horses who won on this track including the likes of Strong Flow, Noble Thyne one of only a few horses to beat Istabraq and more recently Rogue Angel won a four-year-old maiden and went on to win the Irish Grand National in 2016.

We moved to our current track at Moig South in 2018,  it is a left handed track and is located on the verge of Askeaton village.

Cormac Doyle has his string in great form at present, picking up another four-year-old winner at Stradbally last weekend, and his THE REAL JET would look the one to beat following her debut third at Borris House last month. Shes So Lovely was a fair fourth at Lisronagh and is the obvious alternative, but both will have more testing conditions than what they encountered on their debuts.

PULL AGAIN GREEN has built up a good deal of experience this season which should stand to him here as he was still very much in contention with exiting at the penultimate fence at Mainstown recently. This would look an open opportunity for him. Dom Of Mary showed promise when fifth on his debut and is sure to improve, whilst the newcomers can also play a part.

CLONMOYLE finished in front of a subsequent winner when she chased home Melanamix at Dromahane last month, and whilst she herself could not follow it up when failing to complete at Ballindenisk, she could bounce back here. Miss McGugen brings recent placed form courtesy of her runners-up effort at Stradbally last Sunday, whilst Sunshine Beach and Dancing Dani have also made the frame and are likely contenders.

ACES FULL was only beaten a length on his debut but that does not tell the full story as he somehow managed to avoid falling at the last in a costly error. He could gain compensation here. Robinstown posted a career best when finishing second to Dunboyne at Tattersalls, with the fourth horse advertising the form by winning subsequently, whilst Sempione Park has twice finished placed this season but would need to bounce back from a below par effort at Lingstown most recently.

The wide margin Fairyhouse Hunter Chase victor ROSE MILAN represents the in-form stable of Michael Winters and she ran a big race when chasing home Macs Legend on her first outing in open company at Kinsale earlier in the month. The move back to mares-only should see her regain the winning thread. Chapter Two is the only other one of these to have proven themselves in open company and she is entitled to have improved from her return run at Lisronagh.

Representing the notable connections of Enda Bolger and JP McManus, CAUGHT ON THE HOP could make a winning debut as he has an eye-catching pedigree and was bought for no less than E41,000 as a foal. Of those with previous experience, Precious Bounty is a 112-rated hurdler who would have leading claims on his Ballycrystal effort, but disappointed at Kinsale, whilst Truckers Tangle is another with previous track form.
