Track Biography:
The point-to-point track at Ballycrystal is held on the lands of point-to-point handler Matthew Flynn O'Connor in Kiltealy.
The first meeting took place in January 2020 under the auspices of the Ballinagore Hunt Club, the Island Foxhounds have also used this track for their Autumn fixture.
The course itself is a left handed track and the runners will go downhill for a furlong and a half before it levels out. There is a gentle rise to the line.
In all it is a mile around on each circuit with fives fences. Three of the fences are jumped in the home straight, and all of them come before the winning post. There is another fence at top of the course and the fifth fence is in the back straight.

How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin - Take N7 and M9 to N80 in Carlow. Take exit 5 from M9. Follow N80 and R746 in Wexford, track will be signposted.
From Cork - Follow N8 to E Cork and N25 to Quay St/R500 in New Ross. Take R729 and R731. Continue straight onto R746, track will be signposted.

Combined with extensive free parking we have a clear viewing track that allows race goers to get as close to the action as possible.
We can also provide disabled parking on the day if racegoers inform one of our parking stewards on their way into the point-to-point.
We have portaloo’s and changing facilities for toddlers on the course.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Chips, Burgers, Soup, sandwiches, sweets and drinks are available on the track which are all provided by a professional catering company.
There is also plenty of space for families to enjoy picnics if you choose to bring one with you for the day.
If you would like a sweet treat during the day we also have a confectionary stall at the meeting.

There will be a coffee van in situ for the days racing, serving teas and coffee for those looking for a caffine hit throughout the day.
No, we do not have a dress code for our point-to-point
Yes, please feel free to bring your dog to the races. However, please ensure to always have them on a lead
Yes, our point-to-ppoint is the perfect place for a picnic out of the boot of your car.
We are lucky enough to have wide open space for children to play in a safe environment.
No, unfortunately we do not have ATM facilities on course. Hit up an ATM on route and try to win some cash throughout the day!

Ballycrystal point-to-point is an ideal day out for all the family, giving you the opportunity to sample the heart of national hunt racing.
You have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race.
There is great excitement for racegoers as once you have picked out your favourite horse you can proceed to the bookies to have a little flutter.
Nothing beats the excitement of the closing stages of a race and our track ensures that you have a terrific view. Our final fence and finishing straight are both fantastic viewing points.

ALL STAR BOY would be a popular local winner if he could improve upon his debut fourth at Loughrea in testing conditions back in March. Rossbridge has the advantage of recent race fitness having run at that same Galway venue two weeks where he was one of only two horses to complete in a strongly-run race. Of the others, both Kilkee Bay and Blue Bellamy were placed on their latest outings and have to be respected.

Inishowen Head was only beaten by six lengths at Taylorstown in May and is an obvious danger, with the newcomers worth a market inspection.

Pat Doyle won this race three years ago and his I MASKED DU POTIER could give him further success in it following a promising debut run which saw him come down at the final fence whilst in a challenging second. His two likely biggest rivalries have also failed to complete a race to date in Cash Out and Big John Wayne, with the latter in particular offering plenty of hope before falling two-out at Borris House ten months ago.

THE BOSSES OSCAR made a winning return to the pointing sphere at Castletown-Geoghegan on the opening weekend of the season, but he will likely face a stiffer challenger here in order to double up if Ramillies and Lifetime Ambition both take their chance in this. Ramillies made his stable debut at Tinahely last Sunday in a race where the winner slipped the field, whilst the latter has a track mark of 152 and should be a big player on his stable debut.

BEAUS CANDLE bumped into what looked like an above-average winner for this age division at Castletown-Geoghegan on the opening day of the season and he could go one place better here at the expense of another horse that has recently changed stables in Jet Patrol. He was only denied by a narrow margin at Stowlin, whilst Bective Bridge is a newcomer to this sphere but was previously placed in a Punchestown bumper.
