Track Biography:

Formed in 1825, The Iveagh Foxhounds hunt is a famous hunt that has its place in Baily’s chronology of master ship. The Iveagh hunt hosts two point-to-points during the season, an Autmun fixture and a Spring fixture.

There has been many notable performances over the years at the Iveagh hunt santioned race meeting, Grade One winner Roi Du Mee made his only point-to-point appearance at the fixture when he won in October 2016.

Our point-to-point is nestled in the beautiful Northern Ireland countryside and is a perfect day out for all the family.

A Ballycrystal double last Sunday has already taken Colin Bowe to the nine-winner mark for the season, and LA HIGUERA could further boost that strike rate. The Walk In The Park gelding finished third at Bartlemy on debut and should be better suited by the great test here. The potentially re-opposing Trojan Du Berlais has three lengths to find with him from Bartlemy, whilst the more experience Ballybrittas has more recent form to his name having finished fourth at Portrush on his stable debut.

SYR MAFFOS may have been a beaten favourite at Portrush a fortnight ago but he is worth a second chance here in what will be another small-field contest. He ran his race that day and sets the standard coming into this. Primitic offered promise on his debut around here in April, but could was never really involved on his return to action Tinahely, and so it is the Wilson Dennison pair of Millford Hill and Cresthill that come into the race in better form.

BALLYBENTRAGH should step forward from his first start for new connections at Portrush and is ten to gain a second career success here at the expense of Springtime Promise who was in herself an eye-catching maiden winner on that same Portrush card. Of the others, Commander Of Ten won his maiden with plenty in hand last Sunday in Ballycrystal and cannot be discounted.

It is hard to oppose anything coming out of the Gerald Quinn yard at the moment, and BALLYGELLY is likely to be sent off as a warm favourite for this after she chased home the vastly more experienced Springtime Promise at Portrush on debut. All Loved Up was still involved when departing three-out at Loughanmore last Saturday, and ranks as a danger, while Farfromnowhere is an interesting newcomer from the Colin Bowe team that cost E40,000 at the sales.

FERNS LOCK may have lost his unbeaten record in the Joseph Oreilly Memorial last spring, but with six consecutive wins to his name, including a Tetretema Cup, he sets the standard ahead of what will be his first start in an open lightweight. Focus Point claimed a number of big-name scalps when blazing a trail from the front at Tinahely two weeks ago, and whilst he is also entered at Tattersalls, he would be a big threat if lining up here. Jay Bee Why and Wowsham were closely matched at Portrush, whilst Screaming Colours is one of three former national winners in this for what could be his return to the pointing fields.

COOTHILL and Kellyiscool were separated by less than a length in Portrush and they are likely to be to the fore here once again with the former preferred given that it was his first competitive start in two and a half years. Hymie Weiss was further behind them and stepped up to finish second at Loughanmore last week, whilst Slivehill, John The Spark and the six-times track placed Perfect Arch could all get involved.
