Track Biography:

Established in 1942 the Dungarvan Farmers point-to-point still operates on its original site at Kilossera, just two kilometres outside of Dungarvan town centre.

The prime agricultural land beneath “the hill” creates a wonderful natural amphitheatre for one of the South East’s oldest and most famous point-to-points.

Run across the Curran, Sheehan and Kiely lands for generations, the Kilossera point-to-point has a strong tradition of future stars coming to the fore. Previous luminaries include Grand National winner Monty’s Pass, Lexus Chase winner Pandorama, and RSA Chase winner Jessies Dream.

Kilossera has also been a happy hunting ground for young jockeys such as Ted Walsh, Adrian Maguire and Davy Russell having ridden winners here during their careers.

Our parade ring provides a ringside view of the horses. Due to Dungarvan’s large attendances and competitive racing the bookmakers ring is a vibrant and competitive one, with 15 bookmakers setting up stalls in 2016 and reporting a roaring trade.

Along with having a number of portaloos located around the track, we have changing facilities for babies.

We also have a wide flat expanse at the finish line that is perfectly suited to wheelchair users.

There are a wide range of food options avaiable, something to suit everyone.

We have the usual hot food options with delicious burgers, chips and fish on offer from our outside catering vendor.

This is complemented by wonderful artisan food offering gourmet cakes from the Village baker in Villierstown.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.

For those looking for something a little special we also have an artisan coffee stall synonymous with Dungarvan’s famous farmers market.

No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to dress for the weather as appropriate.
Yes, we allow dogs to attend the point-to-point. However, we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics as our parking inside the centre of the course offers the perfect location for a picnic. We also have a range of catering options on course if you fancy picking-up something tasty on the go.
Yes we provide bouncy castles and pony rides to keep our younger racegoers entertained.
No unfortunately we do not provide an ATM but the service station at the closest roundabout to Dungarvan is located 1km from the track.

The Kilossera point-to-point is famous for the view from the hill overlooking the course. The hill provides a wonderful vantage point for every race and below you lies all that the Kilossera point-to-point has to offer.

On the day we provide bouncy castles and pony rides to keep our younger racegoers entertained.

Our point-to-point is located only five minutes away from the coastal town of Dungarvan which has an abundance of pubs and restaurants as well as plenty of popular tourist attractions such as the Waterford Greenway, Dungarvan Castle and the nearby Ardmore adventures.

MOZZIES SISTER has changed stables since a very promising debut where she was sitting in a close second when being brought down at Lisronagh just under a year ago. A reproduction of that effort should see her as tough to beat. Of the others with form, Boombox Baby stands out as the big danger having finished fourth at Boulta in November.

This has an open look to it on paper with THE JEWELLERS PET probably the pick of those with a previous form. He comes here fresh from a career-best at Aghabullogue a fortnight ago, and his experience could stand to him. The newcomers could be the ones to watch with Colin Bowe potentially responsible for two of them in the shape of Je Suis Special, a E120,000 store purchase, whilst Jubilant is closely related to Editeur Du Gite, who was a Grade 1 winner last season under Dungarvan jockey Niall Houlihan.

BIG GIRL BETTY bypassed a couple of potential engagements recently, but she would likely hold strong claims in this if reproducing the same form of her second against geldings in a hunter case at Downpatrick at the end of last season. Florita and Ciakat both finished placed last time out and have more recent form to their name, with the form of Floriatas run at Borris House, in particular working out well, whilst Cahirdown Lass has long been knocking on the door and should not be too far away again.

Having chased home subsequent open winner Hitak at Tattersalls, ARCTIC SKUA has some good form in the book and he could go one place better than his recent second at Aghabullogue at the expense of Spring Well. Rated 84 over hurdles when with Shay Slevin, he has joined a new stable as he returns from a lengthy absence.

THE JAM MAN impressed when getting the better of Dinny Lacey on his stable debut in Ballindenisk earlier this month and it could be worth siding with the former Troytown Chase winner here. His stablemate Dont Matter Now was an early casualty at Aghabullogue on his first start in open company, but is a solid back up option his the Queally team. De Nordener has an easier option in winners-of-three company at Tyrella but is in great form, with Plan Of Attack running solid races in defeat this season.

TOTTENHAM GREEN may not have run since May, but he has skipped a number of engagements in recent weeks to suggest he should be ready for his re-appearance, and his form from last season looks strong. He finished within a length and a half of the now three-time track placed Cleatus Poolaw at Fairyhouse in the spring, and that looks to be the pick of the form. Our Story has more recent form as he finished second in what was quite a decent adjacent race at Ballindenisk last month, and it has already produced a subsequent maiden winner.
