Track Biography:

The North Down point-to-point moved to its current course at Kirkistown in 2006 and have held three meetings each season since then. The course is located towards the eastern side of the Ards Peninsula near the village of Portavogie.  It’s in an area that was used as an airfield during the war and hence is very flat and well drained.

Kirkistown is a very level left handed course run over a circuit just short of a mile. Runners jump two fences close to the spectator’s area and a further three along the back straight.

Our November fixture is normally the final meeting of the autumn calendar in the northern area. Conversely, our February and March fixtures are two of the earliest in the northern spring calendar.

Some of the leading graduates from our point-to-point include Simonsig, Petit Mouchoir & Agus A Vic.

Colin Bowe has a 100 per cent strike rate with his four-year-old maiden runners in 2024, with Korkoran battling gamely to win at Ballinaboola last Sunday, and he is strongly represented with five potential runners for a race that he won last year with JHENGTONG ENKI. The market will give the best guide as to what is expected from this field of newcomers.

Although FANCY PROSPECT did fail to back up her promising debut at Lisronagh when failing to finish at Boulta, she has been given a break since and could be worth a second chance here. Eyes Off Annie has to overcome a notable absence but had shown promise to leave her as a danger in a race where newcomers are likely to come to the fore.

JUBILANT is a well-related son of Doctor Dino, and he was only denied a debut success at Tyrella last month by a little over a length. That likely leaves him as the one to beat ahead of the Carrigarostig third Our Shane. Lanesborough and Cabaret Prince are others for the shortlist after their initial outings also offered promise.

Just over a length separated WOWSHAM and Jay Bee Why when they met for the first time this season at Portrush in October and the margin might not be much bigger as both have since run very well in defeat lately. Jay Bee Why did well to get within three lengths of Battleoverdoyen at Kirkistown, whilst Wowsham has kept high company in all the big hunter chases of late. Shantou Show, Some Man and Winged Leader are others that cannot be discounted if recapturing their best.

MILLIE SUPREME looked like an above-average older maiden winner when opening her account for the first time of asking in Ballycrystal last month. It would not be a surprise to see her take a big step forward in this. Peggys Rock put in a bold effort from the front to beat geldings at Ballinaboola just last Sunday, and if coping with the quick turnaround, she is the obvious danger.

A couple of these never got involved at Tyrella last month due to a runaway winner, but TOTTENHAM GREEN had Some Bro behind him on that occasion, and he would be expected to confirm that here. Cresthill put in a career-best in a winners race at Tyrella, and it will be interesting to see if he can translate that improved effort back to the maiden company.
