Track Biography:

The Galway Blazers have a long history of holding a point-to-point dating back over a hundred years. The hunt dates from the beginning of the 19th century and has established itself as one of the famous Irish Hunts due to the goodwill and generosity of farmers and landowners throughout the county.

We run two meetings a year at Dartfield just outside Loughrea with the first one taking place in October and the second fixture being held in April. The course is situated at Dartfield Horse Museum and heritage centre which is set on 350 acres of parkland just forty minutes from Galway city.

Over the years, Loughrea point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as Bewleys Berry, Boys Hurrah, Brindisi Breeze, Never Compromise and King Johns Castle.

I GIVE THEORDERS impressed on debut when finishing third behind two smart-looking prospects at Oldtown in February and it would be no surprise to see him open his account on his return for a stable that were among the winners on the opening day of the season last weekend. Un Sens A La Vie was only beaten by seven lengths at Loughanmore in April to leave him as the obvious danger. Cosmos Dainay was still holding every chance when falling at Ballysteen on his debut whilst Sky And Sand was another to show promise first time out.

WELL BUOY was only beaten by half-a-length on his debut in a Wexford bumper during the summer when with Harry Kelly, and having changed stables since, he should make a winning first appearance in this sphere for his new connections. Wild Nephin returned to form at the end of last season which will give his supporters some encouragement, as he had the potentially reopposing Nice To Meet You some way behind him in Inchydoney.

David Christie won the first open races of the season last Sunday and with his stable starting the new campaign in good form, RAMILLIES should be the one to side with. The grey was a four-time winner last season, winning those races by a combined 120 lengths and he could be too strong for his rivals here. Er Dancer won on this card back in 2020 and ranks as the biggest danger, with First Touch, and the track recruits Wonderwall and You Raised Me Up also holding claims.

Song For My Father had won a Tyrella maiden in 2022 before later being disqualified. He has since been running on the track, but switches stable ahead of his return to the pointing fields, whilst How Decc was placed over hurdle at Kilbeggan in July and cannot be discounted.

FOUNTAIN HOUSE outran his 33/1 starting price when finishing second on his first start over the banks in the Ladies Cup at the Punchestown Festival back in April. This could be a nice opportunity for the wide-margin Quakerstown maiden winner to double his career tally. Fralimonti Bilbery disappointed when last seen in Inchydoney, but his two runs before that would certainly entitle him to get involved in this.
