Track Biography:

The North Down point-to-point moved to its current course at Kirkistown in 2006 and have held three meetings each season since then. The course is located towards the eastern side of the Ards Peninsula near the village of Portavogie.  It’s in an area that was used as an airfield during the war and hence is very flat and well drained.

Kirkistown is a very level left handed course run over a circuit just short of a mile. Runners jump two fences close to the spectator’s area and a further three along the back straight.

Our November fixture is normally the final meeting of the autumn calendar in the northern area. Conversely, our February and March fixtures are two of the earliest in the northern spring calendar.

Some of the leading graduates from our point-to-point include Simonsig, Petit Mouchoir & Agus A Vic.

NOSNOWHERE should be suited by the step up to three miles here. He had made his debut in a steadily-run 2m4f contest at Oldtown last month where he finished very strongly to grab the runners-up spot in the dying strides. As the only horse in the line-up with previous experience, that will certainly be a notable advantage for him. Ger Quinn won this race 12 months ago with Katkoriko, and he has another French-bred first-timer entered this year, with Lou Prince, whilst Derek OConnor has saddled three four-year-old maiden winners already in 2026, and his newcomers, Lord Fauntleroy and Spot The Ball, have to be respected.

ON THE RAZZLE posted an eye-catching effort at Farmacaffley last month, finishing second behind a horse that was subsequently bought by Lucinda Russell for 80,000stg. That was a big step forward from his Tattersalls debut which should leave him as a leading contender. Bonnie Gold is a half-brother to the Grade 1-placed Dunvegan, and he offered some hope at Tinahely last time, whilst the newcomers would have to be considered in an open-looking race like this, with Techno David chief amongst them having cost E160,000 at the sales.

MOLLY RUSKIN will bid to supply Warren Ewing with his opening winner of the season after she finished a fine second at Farmacaffley on her seasonal re-appearance. She finished out her race strongly on that occasion, when only going down by a length and a half. Lady Eimile also only found one rival too strong around here last month, and she is sure to be knocking on the door once again here, whilst Ar Aghaidh Leat was sent off as a short-priced favourite for her debut at Belclare a fortnight ago. She only got as far as fence eight, but that SP could be worth noting in what is an open race.

CITY CHIEF put in his best run of the season so far when making the trip to Belclare a fortnight ago. He got within ten lengths of the 144-rated hurdler Asian Master on that occasion, which has to bode well for his chances in this. A length and a half separated Beau Walking and In Excelsis Deo when their paths crossed at Comea last month, and Beau Walking has since added to his haul, including at Ballyragget last Sunday. The ground was particularly testing last week, so if that run has not left a mark he is a danger, whilst Journey With Me needs to bounce back.

LARGY LEADER made a winning start to his career around here last month, and he could double his tally in this. Dunaird has been absent since opening his account at Portrush in October in a race that has produced two subsequent maiden winners. One of them was the potentially reopposing Colvin, whilst Mackieshill and Comoutofthefog are other last time out maiden winners to note.

ROCK ON RICHIE may have only faced two rivals at Oldtown last month, but there was still plenty of promise to take out of his as he built upon a fine introduction at Carrigarostig a month earlier. There is likely more to come from him. Minella Cristal only went down by a narrow margin at Tyrella a fortnight ago, whilst the returning Moneysharvin would have claims if bouncing back to his Toomebridge effort.
