Track Biography:

The Killeagh Point-to-Point races have found a new venue in Carrigarostig which will show off the great scenery around Killeagh and will have some great racing and entertainment throughout the afternoon for all to enjoy. It is generally held in the middle of January. With one of the best viewing tracks for spectators over-looking all five fences, the atmosphere at the finish is often electric according to the jockeys.

It is one of the most accessible Point to Points in Ireland with its location only 1.5 miles off the N25 (Cork/Waterford Road) with the excellent road network leading from all corners of the country.

The Committee of Killeagh Point-to-Point has a large number of racing aficionados from the local community including Owners, Trainers, Breeders and Jockeys to name a few that help out to make Killeagh Point-to-Point successful as it is. We also have plenty of local volunteers that contribute their free time to the committee and love seeing the sport thriving in the rural areas of Ireland.

Our fixture typically draws a large entry each year with trainers from all over Ireland running their horses here at our track.

For more information, check out our Facebook page Killeagh Point to Point or Twitter @KilleaghP2P.

Absent since finishing a very encouraging third on her debut in testing conditions at Lisronagh just under 11 months ago, KIMAI could make a winning return to action in this for the Cheltenham Festival winning combination of owner John OLeary and handler Sam Curling. French Adventure has the advantage of recent race fitness, as she had gone close at Knockmullen House before finishing third at Lingstown last time, whilst After The Ball has twice finished placed, and could be turned out quickly having finished fourth in Aghabullogue last Sunday.

WILLOW TIDE still had a share of the lead when falling three-out at Boulta in November, a race that he was sent off as the favourite for, which was a sign of the confidence that his connections had ahead of his opening effort, and they will hope he can make amends here. Dark Til Daylight was placed at Borris House, and is the obvious danger. He is entered at Ballycrystal, but this would look the easier assignment, whilst the newcomer Caldones cost E85,000 at the store sales.

DARA DOR won twice on the bounce at Daramona House and Oldcastle last season, whilst she did finish down the field in a point-to-point bumper following those successes, her back-to-back victories in this sphere have to be respected. Just over a length separated Queen Of The Gales and Walk The Hall when their paths crossed at Ballindenisk last time, and they could be the dangers.

WRAPPEDUPINMAY impressed when scoring at Dromahane over Christmas when he had a number of potentially re-opposing rivals behind him, and he will be expected to confirm that form here. His stablemate, The Great Unknown, has been the dominant player in mares open company of late, and she has previously gone close against the boys at this level, whilst the returning The Rebel County was a big improver at the end of last season. He represents connections who had success in this division last weekend.

COOL CONSUL was sent off as the short-priced favourite at Dromahane last month only to fall four-out whilst still in contention, and he looks to set the standard for this. Gainsville went close at Tinahely in November, and whilst he was subsequently well-beaten in a stronger Lingstown contest, he has finished placed in his last four outings, which has to be respected, but it could well be the 95-rated hurdler Pirate Island who is the biggest threat. He has changed stables since his last outing on the track, and his hurdle form would be well up to winning a race like this.
